Entries for the Book of Visions, an essential element to The DTRIS Files Trilogy

The Book of Visions is located on Logos Station, an artificial world at the edge of a massive void. This is also the present home of the Advocate, along with his Malachai, Darla, the Intelants and a few refugees. It is a temporary staging area where the Advocate takes on a mortal form and deals with VorCaveat in his own back yard.

These visions of Dave come directly from the Source. Dave is having visions because the Advocate needs him to do some work and knows Dave has a tendency to do things his own way. Dave needs all the help he can get.

A Vision from the Source…

I saw a vast rocky wall, spread out in all directions as far as my eye could see. I saw thousands of bright stars, exploding as they pummeled the wall’s surface. They became part of it, contributing to its size.

I continued to float upwards passing the top of the wall. Up I went; the wall became the rim of a giant pond. I saw ripples emanating in all directions from the center of the pond as if a pebble had been dropped into it. The ripples accelerated as if attracted to the circling wall.

I continued to rise until the pond became a thousand ponds on the surface of a giant globe. And the ponds reflected the light of their stars. Then I heard a Word and more ponds were created to replace the ponds empty of stars. And the Word returned and it was not void for I could sense laughter and the laughter was music to my ears.

Now I rose at an accelerated pace. The light from the ponds began to coalesce until the lights became one. The light was so bright I had to cover my eyes so I wouldn’t be blinded. Now, I don’t know how, but I saw the speaker of the Word and He was larger than anything I had seen and He was the light.

Now He caused me to descend, down I went, until I could see only one of the shining ponds. He pointed to the pond and said, “For man there is a time to die but you will not die before your time, return to your home. Remember what you have seen or you will never see again.” -Entry for David Mark, Book of Visions

Another vision:

I don’t know how long we traveled but we could see at a great distance a towering edifice spiraling into the heavens. As we got closer, a great pylon gateway emerged out of swirls of mist that guarded its base but the tower appeared to have no doors or windows. Its surface glistened like translucent sapphire. To me it’s dizzying height a mystery, my imaginations on how a structure this tall could stand on its own or what possible purpose or use it might have… confounding.

We came closer until we could no longer see anything else.

I am told that this is where the workers come and that beyond the pylon, the base of the structure opens like giant jaws; it opens and closes once each day. The time of this event never changes, but no man has ever seen anyone go in or come out. But the ones that do are not necessarily the same.

I pondered this explanation until I felt sick. Second Chance, he calls himself, told me these things. He is with me now. He said we would go there and watch the tower. He said he needed my help, that he had a fire bomb and that we would set the workers on their heels.

I asked about the bomb. He said it wasn’t time. I asked all sorts of questions and am no wiser for doing so. He said time was running out, the workers were almost finished.

I asked how I would help. He said I would watch. -Entry for David Mark, Book of Visions
